  • Primary projects, also called main or umbrella projects, are the main focus of a research study. In COPO, they are referred to as profiles, profile types or projects. In a Tree of Life profile, they are called Tree of Life (ToL) [1] projects.

  • Secondary projects, also called subprojects or child projects, are part of a research study. In COPO, they are referred to as associated profile types or associated projects. In a Tree of Life profile, they are called associated ToL projects.
